FSFTN pledges to continuously improve OpenStreetMap by bringing in more regional level contributors in TamilNadu.
Why OpenStreetMap?
- OpenStreetMap & other OSM related apps are potential alternative to Google Maps.
- The data from OpenStreetMap can be used for local civic action.
What do we map?
As an organization, we want to focus on the following things in the map.
- Banks & ATMs (as POIs using OsmAnd)
- Missing Road names (using StreetComplete)
- Adding Tamil names
- Hospitals, Health centers & Pharmacies.
- Public Toilets
- Drinking Water
- Fuel Stations
- Educational Institutions (Schools & Colleges)
- Public Transport (Bus stops & Bus routes)
- Public Distribution Scheme centers (Eg: Ration Shops)
- Government Offices
- Water bodies (lakes and ponds).
- Post offices and post boxes
